WEEKLY SERMON REFLECTIONS

Each week, take 5 days to dive deeper into the heart of our Sunday sermons! Through key insights and scripture, this format will allow for further personal reflection and spiritual growth. Keeping this at the dinner table, discuss it with family and/or friends.

PRAYER OF THE WEEK:

"Lord God, I thank you for inviting me into the building of my life and to the community of believers I am a part of. Thank you for the tools that you have given me by your Grace that enables me to move forward and continue in the good work that you have for me to do. Give me your wisdom by way of the Holy Spirit, and let me not get weary in doing good. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen."

DAY
01

...from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.

Ephesians 4:16

REFLECTION:

We were not saved and invited into the garage to merely look at the tools, we were saved to build–and to build as part of a community of believers in the unity of our faith.

RESPONSE:

How can having the end in mind help you build the work at hand in your marriage, family, workplace, church? How can you contribute to the building of the community of believers you are in?

DAY
02

...A time to tear down and a time to build up.

Ecclesiastes 3:3

REFLECTION:

Sometimes the beginning of the building process necessitates a tear-down. But we are not left to do it alone–God is with us in the tear-down. The Holy Spirit can help us site-prep and to build something good when we start with the right foundation built on the word of God.

RESPONSE:

What areas in your life may need to be “torn down” in order to build something new? What old habits or mindsets is God asking you to release?

DAY
03

Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road by which you were coming, has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Acts 9:17

REFLECTION:

Saul of Tarsus went from being a persecutor of Christians to being knocked off his horse and blinded by God for three days—a dramatic tear-down and rebuild in accordance with God’s plan for his life. Similarly, some things in our lives may require extreme measures to be torn down and rebuilt.

RESPONSE:

In what ways has the Lord “knocked you off your horse” and set you on a new path? Who has God used to lead you on a new path?

DAY
04

By wisdom a house is built, And by understanding it is established…

Proverbs 24:3

REFLECTION:

Most of the things that build a good life, flow from a person who is willing to do the work of building. It has to be more than a wish, or a promise. We have to OWN the change and put in the hard work.

RESPONSE:

Are you willing to invite the Holy Spirit, the wisdom of God’s Word, and some trusted friends to speak into your "way of doing things"?

DAY
05

According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But each man must be careful how he builds on it.

1 Corinthians 3:10

REFLECTION:

We need to take personal responsibility for our lives. God’s grace empowers us to build on the foundation that He has laid. Sometimes a tear-down is necessary but the key is always having a willingness to press on. Honesty, vulnerability, forgiveness, ownership, and the wisdom of God are all part of the “site-prep” for a good build.

RESPONSE:

Which of the "site-prep" steps (honesty, vulnerability, forgiveness, ownership, wisdom) do you feel God is inviting you to focus on most right now, and why?
