WEEKLY SERMON REFLECTIONS

Each week, take 5 days to dive deeper into the heart of our Sunday sermons! Through key insights and scripture, this format will allow for further personal reflection and spiritual growth. Keeping this at the dinner table, discuss it with family and/or friends.

PRAYER OF THE WEEK:

"Lord God, help me not copy the design of the world but rather build my life upon the rock–upon Jesus. Holy Spirit, give me wisdom and stir my heart with the knowledge and the desire to build with Christ-Culture and not be swayed by pop-culture. Let me build and drape my life with the fabric that you want to adorn me with. As I fix my eyes on you, thank you for making all things new in me. In Jesus’ name, amen."

DAY
01

Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NASB)

REFLECTION:

Resist traveling the easy road of offense and be quick to give and seek forgiveness. The finishing touches on the framing of our life should be the language of the beloved, kindness and how we treat others.

RESPONSE:

How can you intentionally practice kindness and patience in your relationships today, especially when faced with an opportunity to be offended or hold onto a past hurt?

DAY
02

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.

James 1:19-20 (NIV)

REFLECTION:

We should seek first to understand, then to be understood. We should strive to speak Christ within the story, experiences and perspectives of others.

RESPONSE:

How can you practice being "quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger" in your conversations today?

DAY
03

…be subject to one another in the fear of Christ.

Ephesians 5:21 (NASB)

REFLECTION:

We should create spaces of value and honor for others. We should also strive to heal broken relationships.

RESPONSE:

How can we practically create these spaces and why would it be beneficial to heal a broken relationship?

DAY
04

Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

2 Corinthians 9:6-7 (NASB)

REFLECTION:

It is important to invest in the well-being of others. This is the fabric of being hospitable and generous.

RESPONSE:

In what ways can you be more generous, not just with your resources, but also with your time, attention, and love? How can you give cheerfully today?

DAY
05

And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

Hebrews 11:6 (NASB)

REFLECTION:

We should expect God-moments. As we seek Him and renew our mind to His word, we can and should expect Him to do what He says He will do. We should not waiver. We need to surrender.

RESPONSE:

How can you step out in faith, expecting Him to fulfill His promises today?
