WEEKLY SERMON REFLECTIONS

Each week, take 5 days to dive deeper into the heart of our Sunday sermons! Through key insights and scripture, this format will allow for further personal reflection and spiritual growth. Keeping this at the dinner table, discuss it with family and/or friends.

PRAYER OF THE WEEK:

"Lord God, thank you for your word that is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. There is nowhere I would rather be than in your perfect will for my life. I am sorry that I’ve pursued my own way at times and not your way. I am sorry that sometimes I want success more than prioritizing following your lead for my life. I surrender my plans to you and ask that you reorient my thoughts and my purpose to your purpose. Thank you for being Lord of my life, my rock, my God in whom I trust. In Jesus’ name, amen."

DAY
01

Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.

Galatians 5:13-26

REFLECTION:

What is the quality and resilience of your build? After you’ve done the work, put the ring on it, landed the deal, wallpapered the nursery, etc…Ask yourself, is God in it?

RESPONSE:

In using Galatians 5:13-26 as sort of a filter, do you see the fruit of the labor? The fruit being love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control? Is God at the center of all of it, or have you measured your life based on the world's definition of success?

DAY
02

…“Come, make us a god who will go before us; as for this Moses, the man who brought us up from the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.”

Exodus 32:1

REFLECTION:

The people of Israel were impatient. After 400 years of slavery they decided they wanted to expedite their journey. They wanted to build a future of success and they were willing to take matters into their own hands. They wanted to get there and it didn’t matter who was leading them.

RESPONSE:

What has been the difference between waiting on God and being patient in His will and timing vs. striving and doing things your way? Can you think of a time in your life as an example?

DAY
03

Then he said to God, “If Your presence does not go with us, do not lead us up from here.”

Exodus 33:15

REFLECTION:

Moses didn’t want to build a life, no matter how successful, if God wasn’t in it. God wants to be in our life. He knows that His presence is what we need to ultimately be successful.

RESPONSE:

What are some of the areas in your life that you most need the presence of God right now?

DAY
04

Jesus said, “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”

John 10:10

REFLECTION:

The Abundant Life means: God in life. God in the journey. God in me. God is the best thing for us.

RESPONSE:

Is God in your career? Is God in your conversations? Ambitions? Relationships? Challenges? What does that look like in these areas?

DAY
05

I am the fine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.

John 15:5

REFLECTION:

Even if it feels good or makes us happy, if God’s not in it, refuse the deal.
"It is better to be in the valley with God than on the mountain top without Him."
- A.W. Tozer

RESPONSE:

Do you feel in over your head and like you’ve stepped out of sync with the Lord and His plan for you? Invite Him into every area of your life and surrender your will to His. He will guide your path and things can turn around. It’s never too late.
