WEEKLY SERMON REFLECTIONS

Each week, take 5 days to dive deeper into the heart of our Sunday sermons! Through key insights and scripture, this format will allow for further personal reflection and spiritual growth. Keeping this at the dinner table, discuss it with family and/or friends.

PRAYER OF THE WEEK:

“Lord, thank you for Christ who has laid for us an example of how we can enter into conversation with you our Heavenly Father. Help us be mindful of the different situations in our lives in which we can surrender and recenter ourselves with your heart, by praying like Jesus taught us. We love you so much. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”

DAY
01

Pray, then, in this way: Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name...

-MATTHEW 6:9

REFLECTION:

Jesus draws us into a CONVERSATION with the Father by giving us the Lord’s Prayer as a way to frame our dialogue. This prayer allows us to recenter to the heart of God when we’re grappling with the complexities of life.

RESPONSE:

In what times would praying the Lord’s Prayer word-for-word be most beneficial?

DAY
02

...Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven...

-MATTHEW 6:10

REFLECTION:

It can also be a framework for conversation in marriage, as communication is foundational to any relationship. We can also use it to pray a blessing over our spouse, our kids or over another person’s life.

RESPONSE:

Who can you pray the Lord’s Prayer as a blessing over this week?

DAY
03

...Give us this day our daily bread...

-MATTHEW 6:11

REFLECTION:

The Scripture is our ultimate source for understanding God as our Father, His Kingdom, and how He meets our needs and conveys His will. When we pray His word, we enter into greater intimacy with God and invite Him into our lives.

RESPONSE:

When the going gets tough, is conversation with God your number one priority?

DAY
04

...And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors...

-MATTHEW 6:12

REFLECTION:

Our wide-angle expectation of God is that He will do what He says He will do. When we pray according to the scriptures, we can believe God will deliver!

RESPONSE:

What expectations do you have of God? Do you trust that He will answer your prayers in His way and in His timing, and that His way is the best for you?

DAY
05

...And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

-MATTHEW 6:13

REFLECTION:

We can pray separate elements of the Lord’s prayer for specific moments.

RESPONSE:

When you feel tempted, what part would you pray? When you need forgiveness, which part? When you are seeking answers, what then?
