WEEKLY SERMON REFLECTIONS

Each week, take 5 days to dive deeper into the heart of our Sunday sermons! Through key insights and scripture, this format will allow for further personal reflection and spiritual growth. Keeping this at the dinner table, discuss it with family and/or friends.

PRAYER OF THE WEEK:

“LORD, thank you that you put us in the community that it pleases you to put us. Help us to live others-minded as you have instructed. Thank you for being ‘OUR’ Father and leading and guiding us into Your truth. Remove anything that would hinder us from living surrendered and set apart for you, in Jesus name. Amen.”

DAY
01

Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name...

-READ MATTHEW 6:9-13 FOR THE FULL PRAYER

REFLECTION:

The Lord's prayer begins with “Our Father,” because we are called individually to live as a family. In this kingdom-bring- ing-prayer we are brought back to the altar of God with others.

RESPONSE:

How does living with a sense of OUR change our perspective about the needs of others, our forgiveness of others, our compassion for others and the trials and temptations that others go through?

DAY
02

Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.

-MATTHEW 18:19-20

REFLECTION:

People collectively surrendering to unity under His name has empowerment. Of course God is with us individually but something of the Kingdom is held back when we don’t live as – God ‘OUR’ Father.

RESPONSE:

Who are your prayer partners? Reach out to a couple friends or loved ones and offer to pray with them and for them maybe on a regular basis. There is power in our collective prayers of agreement!

DAY
03

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is
faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not
forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.

-HEBREWS 10:23–25

REFLECTION:

We were never meant to live alone. The bible refers to followers of Christ as the ‘body’ of believers. We are the hands and feet of Christ, who calls us to position ourselves with the purpose of loving others out of the love we have for God.

RESPONSE:

Consider that you might be the deliverer of someone else's ‘daily bread’. What daily practices could we employ to support a reorientation of thought and prayers towards loving on and meeting the needs of others? Why is coming to church so important in light of this verse?

DAY
04

...You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain...

-READ EXODUS 20

REFLECTION:

We see all throughout scripture that names are very import- ant to God. Hallowing the name of God is a statement of priority, singularity, and valuing. We can be the cause by which others reject God just by the way we carry the name of God.

RESPONSE:

Are you being careful how you use the LORD’s name? How can we have more reverence as God’s “name bearers”?

DAY
05

...The name of God is blasphemed among the gentiles because of you...

-ROMANS 2:17-24

REFLECTION:

This is truly a matter of our heart. We as Christian’s are to shine the light of Christ. The way we live is a witness to others that needs to be taken seriously.

RESPONSE:

What does your life say to others? Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any area that you might need to do differently and then ask Him to empower you to make changes.
