WEEKLY SERMON REFLECTIONS

Each week, take 5 days to dive deeper into the heart of our Sunday sermons! Through key insights and scripture, this format will allow for further personal reflection and spiritual growth. Keeping this at the dinner table, discuss it with family and/or friends.

PRAYER OF THE WEEK:

“Father God, thank you so much for sending your son Jesus, not only to rescue us from the kingdom of darkness, but to reconcile us to a relationship with you. Thank you for going before us and ordering our steps. Help us to choose life and blessing, not death and cursing, and enable us to do so by the power of the Holy Spirit within. Thank you for giving us the joy of our salvation and the hope that we have in Christ. Let us live a life of surrender to your will. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”

DAY
01

And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

-MATTHEW 6:13

REFLECTION:

The kingdom of darkness is a real thing and it does influence us, but through Christ Jesus, we can experience the deliverance from evil that God provided.

RESPONSE:

Even though we live in the world, we are tempted, and we often fail…how can we resist evil, and how can we invite God into our lives to bring us deliverance?

DAY
02

Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made.

-GENESIS 3:1

REFLECTION:

God and the Devil are not equals. The Devil is a created being and his power is restricted, limited and temporal. He is the father of lies (John 8:44); Christ is King!

RESPONSE:

In what ways has the enemy tried to deceive you? What truths of God in His word can overcome the lies and lead you into freedom?

DAY
03

We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.

-1 JOHN 5:19

REFLECTION:

God’s kingdom thrives even in the midst of the presence of evil. The outcome is already determined; Satan does not win. But, in the temporal, he is described as being the prince of the air of this world. For those who are in Christ, we may live in the same world, but we are of a different Kingdom.

RESPONSE:

How can we actively seek to live a part of God’s kingdom in a world influenced by darkness? How does knowing you are “of God” give you strength to endure?

DAY
04

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. But resist him, firm in your faith…

-1 PETER 5:6-9

REFLECTION:

We can be strong in the Lord by putting on the full armor of God as we stand against the schemes of the devil. (Eph. 6:10-12). Knowing the truth of the word of God and keeping our eyes on the Kingdom of Heaven creates a heart posture in which the Holy Spirit empowers our walk of faith.

RESPONSE:

How does knowing the strategy of the evil one afford us an advantage at being able to stand against him?

DAY
05

For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

-COLOSSIANS 1:13-14

REFLECTION:

Time and space and the length of your life, is just a foyer (entry way) into someone else’s house…Whose house are you in? God sets before us life and death and tells us to choose life. (Deut. 30:19)

RESPONSE:

Through Christ we are redeemed and have been set free from bondage however God gives us the power to choose. How does understanding that you have been transferred into a new kingdom influence your daily choices and interactions in life?
