WEEKLY SERMON REFLECTIONS

Each week, take 5 days to dive deeper into the heart of our Sunday sermons! Through key insights and scripture, this format will allow for further personal reflection and spiritual growth. Keeping this at the dinner table, discuss it with family and/or friends.

PRAYER OF THE WEEK:

“Lord God, thank you that your word says that if any of us lacks wisdom, that we can ask of you who gives generously and without reproach. We thank you for Pastor Paul’s message and the truth of your Word. Let these things be stirred in our hearts and bring us the insight we need to stand against the enemy and the lies that he seeks to play us with. Thank you for strengthening us by the power of your might. Fill our hearts with songs of praise to you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

DAY
01

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ...

-2 CORINTHIANS 10:3-5

REFLECTION:

The ground of loss or victory is in the realm of our thoughts. The Kingdom of Darkness is very intent on getting in our heads through internal and external influences.

RESPONSE:

What are some thoughts that you need to take captive and bring into alignment with God’s truth? (Hint: they may be ones that trigger your internal ‘fight or flight’)

DAY
02

And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.

-EPHESIANS 2:1-2

REFLECTION:

AKA: The magistrate of the power of inanimate movement of air. Inanimate movement of air is SOUND. What we hear has the power to affect our thoughts.

RESPONSE:

How is Satan manipulating the tones of life to distract you and discourage you in your walk of faith and trust in the Lord? How can knowing how the enemy of our soul operates, give you an advantage over his tactics?

DAY
03

But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.

-2 CORINTHIANS 11:3

REFLECTION:

We are all being played in different ways. Satan is crafty. The Kingdom of Darkness knows how to play us individually. What we think about, focus on and let influence us, all contribute to the ways Satan tries to get us off track.

RESPONSE:

How can we recenter our minds to the simplicity and purity of Christ? What things do we need to renounce and replace with God’s truth?

DAY
04

Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.

-PROVERBS 4:23

REFLECTION:

What we hear can often be corrupted because of our own pain, fear, resentment, selfishness, and hurt within us. It’s important to recognize our predispositions and how they make us more susceptible to the lies of the enemy so that we can guard our hearts.

RESPONSE:

What thoughts have you allowed to take up residence on the strings of your heart that Satan likes to pluck and use to his advantage? How can you guard your heart so that it stays in harmony with God’s grace?

DAY
05

But He answered and said,“It is written, Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.

-MATTHEW 4:4

REFLECTION:

Satan tried to tempt Jesus in the wilderness, but Jesus answered with the truth of God to refute the enemies manipulation attempts. Jesus’ focus was on the mouth of God (the Word of God) that He had prioritized over any other voice or tone.

RESPONSE:

Who’s “mouth” are you focused on? What steps can you take to prioritize the mouth of truth (God’s word) over the mouth of deception (the Devil’s lies)?
