WEEKLY SERMON REFLECTIONS

Each week, take 5 days to dive deeper into the heart of our Sunday sermons! Through key insights and scripture, this format will allow for further personal reflection and spiritual growth. Keeping this at the dinner table, discuss it with family and/or friends.

PRAYER OF THE WEEK:

“Lord God, thank you for placing me in the body of Christ where it pleases you to put me. Help me to be a support and encouragement to others. Surround me with those who can also lift me up and provide accountability to the life I live for you. Guide my steps Lord and lead me in your ways. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

DAY
01

A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

-PROVERBS 17:17

REFLECTION:

There are some adversities in life that just have to be walked through. It is important to not only remember God is with us, but that He also desires for us to be in community and in support of one another.

RESPONSE:

When the going gets tough, who are the ones in your life that you can count on?

DAY
02

Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up.

-ECCLESIASTES 4.9-10

REFLECTION:

You might think of the “buddy system” here. There is accountability and there is collaboration when you join with others.

RESPONSE:

Think of a time when you were able to accomplish more with the help of others and the task became much more rewarding to both of you. Also, how can having a confidant help you be stronger when you struggle with the temptation of sin?

DAY
03

Furthermore, if two lie down together they keep warm, but how can one be warm alone?

-ECCLESIASTES 4:11

REFLECTION:

People need people. God desires us to be in relationship with one another and to “...not forsaking our own assembling together...” (Hebrews 10:25) This is why we are called the body of Christ. Together, we make up a whole.

RESPONSE:

What are some of the benefits that you can think of when thinking about going through adversity with the strength and encouragement of someone you trust?

DAY
04

And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart.

-ECCLESIASTES 4:12

REFLECTION:

Everyone goes through times of doubt, trials and failures. With the truth of God’s word, the Spirit of God living in us and the surrounding help of the body of Christ, He will admonish us to be strengthened through being rightly related to others around us. We don’t have to walk alone.

RESPONSE:

How might Satan have the advantage if he can single you out and away from others? In what ways can you be intentional to surround yourself with people who would edify and encourage you in the Lord?

DAY
05

Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

-GALATIANS 6:2

REFLECTION:

Jesus calls us to love God and love others. Part of loving others well means to seek ways to relieve their burdens and walk with them in whatever way they need during a difficult situation.

RESPONSE:

How can you show the love of Christ to another person who is going through a hard time or who may need you to be their accountability partner?
