WEEKLY SERMON REFLECTIONS

Each week, take 5 days to dive deeper into the heart of our Sunday sermons! Through key insights and scripture, this format will allow for further personal reflection and spiritual growth. Keeping this at the dinner table, discuss it with family and/or friends.

PRAYER OF THE WEEK:

Lord, interrupt me to my core! I am laid bare before You—there is nothing and nowhere I can hide. You have seen and known it all. Your love chases me down; You are consumed with zeal for my heart. Holy Spirit, reveal any area in me where change is needed and empower me to move forward in Your will, removing anything that hinders my relationship with the Father. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

DAY
01

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.

Hebrews 4:12-13

REFLECTION:

Our walk with God is not meant to be lived out of routine, but rather, we are to welcome the God of heaven into our hearts—between soul and spirit, where He knows us more deeply than we know ourselves.

RESPONSE:

Does ‘alive and active’ describe your relationship with Jesus? Are you willing to be ‘laid bare’ before the Lord? Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart, give you a humble spirit and to give you wisdom in this area.

DAY
02

Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

1 Corinthians 3:16

REFLECTION:

If we are in Christ, we have the Holy Spirit living within us. He brings comfort, He brings God’s truth, He empowers us to do God’s will, He brings transformation to us as we yield to Him, He is our teacher, He seals us for the day of salvation and a great many other things.

RESPONSE:

Do you see the Holy Spirit actively involved in your life? How does knowing that the Holy Spirit dwells within you change your thoughts on how you live your life?

DAY
03

And He made a scourge of cords, and drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen; and He poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables; and to those who were selling the doves He said, “Take these things away; stop making My Father’s house a place of business.” His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for Your house will consume me."

John 2:13-17

REFLECTION:

Zeal is a strong feeling of enthusiasm, passion, or fervor towards a particular cause, goal, or belief. It reflects an intense and energetic commitment to something, often leading to determined action. Zeal can be seen in how someone works tirelessly or pursues something with great dedication and excitement. This is how God feels about us! He wants to bring flourishing in us and He knows what is best for us. He is passionate about what is in our hearts and about what shouldn’t be there.

RESPONSE:

How does knowing that God relentlessly pursues you with a passionate love change your perspective about you and what should be allowed in your heart? Is there anything that the Holy Spirit is revealing to you that you may need to ‘turn the table over’ on?

DAY
04

And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Romans 5:5

REFLECTION:

The Holy Spirit wants to bring the peace we need, the wisdom we need, the love we need, the correction we need and the removal we need. It is all in the name of love. He loves us with an everlasting love. He is a good Father.

RESPONSE:

How does God’s unconditional love give you hope? How should the love of God in our hearts affect our thoughts about Him and ourselves and how should it affect the way we love others?

DAY
05

For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord , ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.'

Jeremiah 29:11

REFLECTION:

God isn’t trying to get into our lives to mess them up, take away our fun, hurt us or leave us wounded to fend for ourselves. He is not out to destroy us but is consumed with zeal for our hearts because He is FOR us, not against us.

RESPONSE:

Do you believe that God works all things for your good even when He interrupts you where it hurts? Some of our acts of disobedience are because we have a heart issue at the root. Are you willing to let God come into your heart and show you His way that leads to peace?
