WEEKLY SERMON REFLECTIONS

Each week, take 5 days to dive deeper into the heart of our Sunday sermons! Through key insights and scripture, this format will allow for further personal reflection and spiritual growth. Keeping this at the dinner table, discuss it with family and/or friends.

PRAYER OF THE WEEK:

Heavenly Father, thank you for creating a space for me in your great love and showing me grace and mercy. Help me to be slow to offense and be quick to forgive and extend your love and grace to others. Give me wisdom to set healthy boundaries and to know when it’s ok to say no. I want to flourish in my relationships and every part of my life to bring glory and honor to you. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

DAY
01

…But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

Luke 6:32-36

REFLECTION:

The biggest challenge and distinction in the Christian community is when we open our lives to people that don’t agree with us or have offended us. Just as God offers us mercy, we are called to offer it to others even when it’s difficult.

RESPONSE:

Who do I find it hard to show mercy to? Is God prompting me to forgive someone or show them kindness even though they may not deserve it?

DAY
02

If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also.

Luke 6:29

REFLECTION:

Jesus wasn’t instructing us on passivity. He was showing us a new radical way to respond when we feel offended, so that we can overcome evil with God’s grace.

RESPONSE:

How do you typically respond when you are offended? How can you show grace instead?

DAY
03

Therefore, though I have enough confidence in Christ to order you to do what is proper, yet for love’s sake I rather appeal to you — since I am such a person as Paul, the aged, and now also a prisoner of Christ Jesus —I appeal to you for my child Onesimus...

Philemon 1:8-10

REFLECTION:

We are called to create space for others, especially when it’s difficult, and to embrace the power of forgiveness.

RESPONSE:

What do I need to do to make space in my heart for reconciliation? How can I ask the Holy Spirit for His help?

DAY
04

If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.

Luke 6:32

REFLECTION:

It’s easy to love those who love us back. We need to step out of our comfort zones and embrace the difficult task of loving others as Christ has loved us.

RESPONSE:

In what way is God calling me to love those who have offended me?

DAY
05

So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves."

John 6:53

REFLECTION:

We are called to love others, but there are times when we need to create healthy boundaries. We must balance grace with wisdom here. Jesus didn’t allow people to take advantage or abuse Him and neither should we.

RESPONSE:

How can I set boundaries in my life in a way that honors God and protects my well-being?
