WEEKLY SERMON REFLECTIONS

Each week, take 5 days to dive deeper into the heart of our Sunday sermons! Through key insights and scripture, this format will allow for further personal reflection and spiritual growth. Keeping this at the dinner table, discuss it with family and/or friends.

PRAYER OF THE WEEK:

Father God,
You are a good, good Father. Your Word says that You love us more than any earthly father ever could, and that You have good in store for us. Thank You for giving us the right to become children of God when we surrender our lives to You.
Help us, from the position of grace, to walk in a manner worthy of the life You’ve given us in Christ. Let us never take for granted the price that was paid for our salvation. Remind us daily of Your mercy, and help us with the struggles of this life so that nothing would hinder us from sharing Your love with others.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

DAY
01

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace which He lavished on us. In all wisdom and insight He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him.

Ephesians 1:3–9

REFLECTION:

We have been restored to God through grace so that we can begin the work of removing some of the mess. We are given all the benefits of grace and love so that we may begin bringing restoration and hope into our lives and the world around us.

RESPONSE:

Do you know that God’s love is not based on your performance? Do you know that when you have made Jesus your Lord and Savior that there is nothing you can do to thwart His love and grace for you? How does this speak to your spirit?

DAY
02

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma. But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints...

Ephesians 5:1–3

REFLECTION:

The word “therefore” is an adverb and functions as a connector between sentences or clauses. It implies a condition that has been satisfied that gives rise to a response. We don’t live out the second part to earn the first—our behavior doesn't earn grace; it flows from it.

RESPONSE:

In what ways can you let God’s love and grace shape your daily choices, rather than trying to earn His favor?

DAY
03

What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?

Romans 6:1–2

REFLECTION:

Understanding the anatomy of this conjunction is very important. Otherwise you heap shame on yourself when you fail and question whether you are a child of God…or you will get prideful and think you are better than everyone else because you don’t fail.

RESPONSE:

Are you tempted to use grace to stay where you are–or are you letting grace bring transformation into your life? Where might God be calling you to renew your mind and align your desires with His?

DAY
04

So this I say, and affirm together with the Lord, that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind...

Ephesians 4:17

REFLECTION:

Through faith in the Son of God who died for our sins, we are forgiven…Therefore, since we are children of God, let us live our life in a way that honors Him and brings flourishing to our lives and the lives of others around us.

RESPONSE:

Where is God prompting you in your spirit to consider a ‘therefore’ where you may need to get rid of a thing and surrender it to God?

DAY
05

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:9

REFLECTION:

When we fail to live out the ‘therefore’, God’s grace—the condition before—remains unchanged. You don’t lose your child-of-God status when you mess up. But, we need to keep responding to His grace and try again. A thousand times if you have to. We need to continually surrender our lives to Him and put our faith in the Risen Savior.

RESPONSE:

When you fail, do you run from God in shame—or run to Him, knowing He still loves you? What would change in your life if you truly believed that His forgiveness is immediate, complete, and never runs out?
