WEEKLY SERMON REFLECTIONS

Each week, take 5 days to dive deeper into the heart of our Sunday sermons! Through key insights and scripture, this format will allow for further personal reflection and spiritual growth. Keeping this at the dinner table, discuss it with family and/or friends.

PRAYER OF THE WEEK:

Lord, forgive me for the times I’ve taken things into my own hands. Help me to fully trust You. Let Your Word come alive in my spirit and reshape my inner thoughts until they align with Your truth. I choose now to place my trust in You. I declare it aloud—even if my feelings lag behind. You are my God, and I put my confidence in You. Thank You for all that You are doing in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

DAY
01

Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some other way, he is a thief and a robber…The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

John 10:1&10

REFLECTION:

The thief gains access through shame, lies, and threats, aiming to destroy our joy and peace. Even in joyful moments—your child graduating, starting a new job, or joining a new community—you might feel fear, doubt, or rejection creeping in. The enemy whispers lies to distort what God has made good. But Jesus came to give us abundant life. Recognizing the voice of the Shepherd is key to resisting the lies of the thief.

RESPONSE:

Have you ever felt fear or anxiety during joyful experiences? What steps can you take to guard against the enemy’s tactics and stay anchored in God’s truth?

DAY
02

He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

Micah 6:8

REFLECTION:

Our happiness in this world is not the highest goal. The truth is, we were called to freedom—but not to turn that freedom into an opportunity for the flesh or for living only for ourselves. Instead, we are called to love and serve one another (Galatians 5:13). Grace doesn’t give us a free pass to do whatever we want—Bonhoeffer calls this “cheap grace.” It’s grace that doesn’t transform us. We are called to live according to the truth of God’s Word, which means doing justice, loving kindness, and walking humbly with our God.

RESPONSE:

What lies of the world have you believed at times? (E.g., “I have to be the best version of myself,” “Others should make me happy,” or “Happiness is life’s ultimate goal.”) What is the Spirit revealing to you now? What truth from God’s Word can you use to confront those lies?

DAY
03

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7

REFLECTION:

Sometimes, we tolerate “manageable” sins like worry or selfishness, but these can quietly erode our trust in God. Prayer is not about rehearsing our anxieties—it’s about releasing them. God invites us to trust Him with every detail of our lives. As we bring our concerns to Him with thanksgiving, His peace guards our hearts.

RESPONSE:

How can you shift your prayers from anxious repetition to true surrender? What would it look like to lay your burdens at Jesus’ feet and declare your trust in Him, regardless of the outcome?

DAY
04

No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth. “For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?

Matthew 6:24-25

REFLECTION:

This verse isn’t about having money or that money is evil. Money is none other than a medium of exchange. This verse is about whether you are placing your trust in money or if you are placing your trust in God–serving the master of worry or The Master God. Jesus reminds us that life is about far more than material things.

RESPONSE:

What occupies your thoughts most of the time—worldly desires, fear, self-interest? What can you do to realign your mind with what God wants for you? How do your thoughts shape your actions and ultimately your life?

DAY
05

And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

Hebrews 11:6

REFLECTION:

Many of us try—often unknowingly—to earn God’s favor through good behavior. But faith, not morality, is what pleases God. There’s no future version of you that God loves more than who you are right now. He is already pleased when we trust Him and seek Him earnestly.

RESPONSE:

What does the bible say pleases God? How can we build our faith and deepen our trust in God?
